Out the window

Merriam Webster has released their list of Words of the Year for 2004. Coming in at #1: (drumroll please)... Blog! For comparison, here's last year's list. I find it amusing that democracy topped last year's list, but didn't even appear in this election year. I guess everyone was too concerned about partisan incumbents...
In any event, it's always nice to see defenestration on the list. That is a quality piece of linguistic construction.
